Kris Mayfield entered his career in Law Enforcement in 1987. In 1988 he was selected to be a Special Agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Kris retired from his Law Enforcement career in 2015.
During his career Agent Mayfield worked as a Special Agent; Division Tactical Advisor; Firearms Instructor Coordinator; Certified Explosives Specialist; Self Defense Instructor Trainer; International Association of Chiefs of Police Certified Long Rifle Specialist (Sniper); Firearms Instructor Training Program, National Instructor; Certified Arson Investigator; Special Response Team (SRT) Member (22 years); Special Response Team Instructor; Certified Colt AR15, Sig Sauer Pistol and Glock Pistol Armorer; Certified Active Shooter Instructor; Certified Taser Instructor; Certified Simunitions Instructor; Sniper Instructor and finally Senior Special Agent.
As a field Agent and SRT member, Kris participated in over 500 high risk search and arrest warrants, undercover operations, dignitary protection details, long and short-term surveillances and high-profile cases including the Uni Bomber, Olympic Park Bomber, Oklahoma City Bombing and many others.
Throughout his career Kris was recognized for his expertise in firearms, tactics, self defense (Hand to Hand Combat, Knife Defense, Taser) and numerous other disciplines.
Kris received his Active Shooter Instructor Certification from the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program at Texas State University. As an Active Shooter Instructor Kris taught Special Agents and Task Force officers for numerous agencies and Departments in Texas and around the country.
Since that time Kris has written Active Shooter Preparation programs used in Hospitals and he has consulted with several places of worship and businesses to provide them needed information to allow them better to analyze and mitigate possible threats.
